Accidents can happen anywhere. They can happen on the roads, in schools, and even in your home. As such, accidents can also happen in various types of workplaces.

Reasons Why Employees Get Hurt In The Workplace

Below are the top 5 causes of workplace injuries:

1. Physical overexertion. Injuries related to or caused by pulling, pushing, lifting, holding, carrying, and throwing activities at work is the leading cause of employees getting hurt in the workplace. Overexertion has consistently been the number one workplace injury and also the most expensive to treat.

2. Slipping and tripping.
These pertain to employees falling on wet and slippery floors or tripping over something left lying on the floor.

3. Falling from high areas.
Employees, especially in particular industries, are prone to falling from elevated areas such as roofs, ladders, and stairways.  This type of job hazard can be caused by slip and fall accidents or faulty equipment.

4. Reaction injuries. Reaction injuries happen when a person slips and trips without falling.  However, these incidents can cause muscle injuries, body trauma, and other serious medical issues.

5. Injuries caused by falling objects. Objects that fall from a shelf or dropped by another person can cause some very serious injuries. The most common type of injury caused by this is a head injury.
