The Chinese
were the ones who used paper bills for the very first time. During the Tang
Dynasty, they started carrying folding money in the form or exchange notes or
privately issued bills of credit and used it more over 500 years before it was
practiced in Europe in the 17th century. The word “cash” was
originally used in the Tang Dynasty to describe “kai-yuans”, the type of round
bronze coins with square holes
The World’s First
ATM
John
Shepherd-Barron invented the world’s first automatic teller machine, though his
claim to the title is a matter of dispute. It was in 1967 that the first model
was built and installed in London. Its main different from its modern
counterpart is that it did not charge a fee.
The World’s
Largest Single Banknote
The
100,000-peso note which was created by the Philippine government in 1998 was
considered the largest single banknote in the world. It measures to about the
size of a sheet of legal paper. This note was just offered to collectors and
was only designed to celebrate a century of independence from Spanish rule.
Money Is
Dirty
Studies
revealed that a very solid majority of U.S. bills are contaminated by cocaine.
Most drug traffickers have used coke-sullied hands in order to move cash, and
plenty of users utilize roll bills into sniffing straws. Another study
conducted in 2002 showed that 94% of dollar bills tested contain pathogens. It
is also worth note taking that paper money can transport a live flu virus for
up to 17 days.
