Landscaping can be dated as far as the ancient times where the Greeks and Romans have shown how they appreciate this craft. In fact, paintings lay evidence to how landscaping was back then. Even until now there is what you call landscape painting because the beauty of natural scenery still has not lost its magic when inspiring people. Also, if this was just a form of hobby before, now it belongs to one of the most successful industries and people who get into the job of landscaping are called professionals.

1. Did you know that the word landscape is derived from a Dutch word?

Landscape came from the Dutch word “landschap”.  It originally meant region or tract of land. Now, it means a picture depicting scenery on land according to dictionaries.

2. Did you know that the earliest pure landscapes are frescos?
According to experts, the earliest pure landscapes that didn’t include human beings in it are frescos from Minoan Greece.

3. Did you know the first time that garden designers were recognized and well known?
In 17th century, Andre le Notre, designed the gardens of at Versailles and Vaux-le-Vicomte. Other chateaux and urban gardens also sprung at that time spreading the popularity of most landscape gardeners.
