Hair color has been around as early as the 3400 B.C. when the
Egyptians began using henna to darken their graying hair. Today, hair colors
are now bolder and more vibrant with people trying on more unusual hair colors
such as green and blue. There is, nonetheless, a certain
preference to red hair color in relation to something that's going on in a
person's life or in relation to a person's personality.
Studies have shown that people
donning red crowns are more self-confident than their blonde and brunette
counterparts. This is associated with the observation that the color red
represents fire and passion. Changing one's hair color to red does not,
however, change one's personality but the belief with regard to the color red
boosting confidence does increase one's self-esteem.
Other people's perception to the
color red also helps since many people treat such color as one representing intensity,
energy, vigor, spirit, and enthusiasm. Hence, when a person has a more subdued
personality, having red hair color can help in changing people's perspective
about her. For instance, a person perceived by others as having a boring and
uninteresting personality can change her hair color to red and it can instantly
help changing people's impression about her from being boring to being fiery.
