There are thousands of hotels open for business in the USA today. Of course, these hotels receive thousands of visitors yearly as well.

Not all hotels though withstand the test of time. Many hotels and hotel chains have closed in the past decades. However, there are some that have endured and survived difficulties and have remained open even after several decades.

America’s Oldest Hotels

Below are the top 3 oldest hotels in the USA that are still open:

1. Hanover Inn.
Located in Hanover, New Hampshire, this hotel was originally opened in 1780. This hotel was once the site of the home of Gen. Ebenezer Brewster, a former Dartmouth College steward. The Hanover Inn is well known for having retained ties to the Ivy League college throughout its history.

2. The Red Lion Inn. This hotel opened in 1773 and has been open since then in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The inn started as a tavern in colonial times and has hosted five presidents and numerous other notable figures such as Nathaniel Hawthorne, William Cullen Bryant and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

3. The Admiral Fell Inn. The inn, located in Baltimore, originally opened in 1770. Seven buildings make up this inn. The central building, formerly known as the Anchorage, was a boarding house for sailors who wanted a safe refuge while they were in the rough waterfront area.
